If the motion drive belt is in good order, take the lawn mower to a professional ..., If I try driving up the hill next to my house when the machine is freshly started/running, I can climb with ease. But, after running/driving for 15 minutes or so, the machine is maybe 70% effective getting up the same hill. After 20-25 minutes of mowing, I can barely climb the hill., Go to the rear side of the lawn tractor. To engage the transmission, hold the freewheel control and press it inward. Turn on the engine and reduce the speed to around one-half of its maximum. Next, gently depress the clutch/brake pedal. Set the motion control lever to the “Forward” setting and drive approximately 5 feet., First, switch off the lawn mower and apply the brake. Then, if you have a drive system with an idler, place the mower in drive. This will put the belt under tension. With the drive engaged, you can jump off the lawn mower and look at the belt. The belt should be nice and tight; not too tight but definitely not baggy., Hey there Andy! It seems like when the mower cools down it goes up the hills just fine, it's about 20 minutes in it starts going up slow or barely at all. Belt might be slipping, check for cracks and or glazing. If it doesn't seem like that's it I may have a trick for you to determine if the trans is bad., 7.
